Print on Demand. This book presents a speech delivered at the Junior Constitutional Club by Albert E. Southall following a Conservative electoral defeat. The speech examines the forces that contributed to the loss and highlights the influence of new organizations and political movements. The author places particular emphasis on religious groups, nonconformist movements, trade unions, and the Labour Representation Committee. Their goals, strategies, funding, and impact on the electorate are analyzed within the context of British society and politics in the early 20th century. The author argues that traditional Conservative organization methods were insufficient to counter these new forces, and suggests that the party must adapt to the changing political landscape in order to regain electoral success. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Political Theory and History
A historic political address examining how organized religion and labor forces shaped early 20th-century politics.
The talk argues that a growing, non-political sounding Free Church Council had become a powerful network, influencing education policy and public life. It surveys how religious groups, unions, and political clubs interacted with the Conservative government and the Liberal party, and it cautions readers about the dangers of organized influence on national policy.
- Learn how a "non-political" movement is described as shaping votes, candidates, and public opinion.
- See the arguments about education, labor rights, and the balance of power between church groups and political parties.
- Understand the author’s view of how organized groups might affect future government decisions.
- Explore how trade unions and the Independent Labour party are portrayed in the politics of the era.

All Forgotten Books titles are printed on demand. The moment an order is submitted, it is automatically transmitted to our distributor and then forwarded to the printer, where it enters production. This process begins within minutes and is entirely automated.

For this reason, we kindly ask that you double-check the title, edition, and your shipping details before placing an order.
If you change your mind after ordering, you are welcome to return the book once it arrives, and a refund will be issued in accordance with AbeBooks’ return policy.

If the book is damaged or defective please continue with the return process, and thank you for letting us know so that we can improve our products.
