(UNITED STATES NAVY). [STANTON, Frederick P.]. Report of the Committee on Naval Affairs of the House of Representatives, on the Memorial of Ambrose W. Thompson, Proposing to Establish a Line of Mail Steamers Between California & China, and Between Philadelphia and Norfolk, VA. and Europe. [n.p.], 1851. 15pp. Some light spotting, else near fine in orig. printed wrappers. Stanton served as a member of Congress from Tennessee from 1845 until 1855, and became Chairman of the Committee on Naval Affairs in 1849. This report reflects his strong interest in establishing regular steamship routes in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
