ix, [3], 73, [1] p., 1 leaf of a plate, folded: illustrations, map; 23 cm. Dark brown cloth with gilt spine title and blind-ruled borders on both boards. At head of title page: "Second Geological Survey of Pennsylvania 1874." Gift inscription on front free endpaper: "Presented to Chas. H. Stubbs by Prof. Persifor Frazer Jr. 2nd Geological Survey of Pa. August 4th 1877." Persifor Frazer Jr. (1844-1909) completed a report on Mining and Mineralogy of Colorado and Wyoming for the United States Geological Survey in 1869; in the 1870s he worked with the Second Geological Survey of Pennsylvania. He also taught chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. In Good+ Condition: cover is rubbed and lightly soiled, with minor loss; pages are browning but clean and tight; large folded map is crisp and intact.
