Report Writing for the Community Services is a practical, hands-on textbook that will give you the skills you need to write competently, effectively, and professionally, and to meet the professional standards required for documentation and record-keeping in the community services field. It covers memos, letters, email, and reports, as well as presentation skills. All chapters include sample templates and exercises thatwill give you the opportunity to practise and perfect your skills.
This text appears to be extremely compatible with my course’s objectives. It focuses on real-life issues that my students will be reporting on when they begin their careers...The introductions to each chapter are brilliant!...The author’s examples, focus exercises and end-of-chapter are relevant and useful. The author’s having come up with such extensive and varied activities for the topics for each chapter will mean much less prep time for the professors teaching English courses in Community Studies.
- Ann Mikula, Professor, Community and Health Services, Algonquin College
The writing style is simple and clear. The examples are relevant and the explanations are clear. Overall, the writing style is professional and appropriate. I like the text...I like the layout, simple explanations, and practical exercises.
- Nancy Rishor, Interdisciplinary Studies, Fleming College
I appreciate that there are a number of different exercises focusing on a variety of mental health practitioners. If I were to use this book I would just modify each exercise to pertain to the Child and Youth Work field.
- Chris Harris, School of Health and Community Services, Durham College
