Dyer's Reports, which contains cases heard in the Courts of Common Pleas, King's Bench, Exchequer and Chancery from 1513 to 1582, was originally issued in 1585. One of the first publications of its kind, it was also the first to be referred to regularly as "Reports." A work of great authority (second only to that of the Year Books), it went through six editions in Law-French. "In 1794," Wallace notes, "Mr. Vaillant gave to the profession a yet much more improved edition, in English, containing several cases not found in the old ones, and now printed from Dyer's MSS., a part of which, from some private reasons, his editors, on the first publication, 'thought fitt not to make them vulgarr.'"
