Add to basketFrontispiece, [2], 477p, [1], [50]; [2], [52]. 19th century quarter leather over cloth backed boards with a red spine label. 2 volumes bound in one. Sir Henry Rolle (c.1589-1656) was Chief Justice of the King's Bench. While involved in the practice of law, Rolle spent much of his leisure time writing reports and abridgments of cases. The second volume is signed F Berkeley on the title page could be Frederick Augustus Berkeley, 5th Earl of Berkeley (1745 - 1810) Lowndes p2120. Wing R1875. The work influenced the US Founding Fathers. George Wythe (1726-1806) owned a copy, and Thomas Jefferson recommended a copy for the University of Virginia Library. A well preserved copy with some wear to the corners otherwise internally clean.
