Synopsis:

The best adaptive reuse projects from 17 countries, repurposing urban objects for new use.

"A hopeful anthology of solutions for our hot, crowded planet."
- Renée Loth, AchitectureBoston magazine

Reprogramming the City features 44 adaptive reuse projects from 17 countries, showing how existing urban infrastructure, structures, surfaces, and systems can be repurposed to make cities more resilient.

A global overview of tactical urbanism and resourceful solution to create sustainable cities and improve urban life.

From the UTEC "Water Billboard" in Lima, Peru, repurposed to generate fresh drinking water, to bus stops in Umeå, Sweden transformed to boost the mental health of commuters during dark winter months with anti-SADD light therapy tubes, Reprogramming the City contains 214 pages with over 300 photos and illustrations showing the hidden abilities contained in existing city structures, structures, and systems to improve life for urban residents.

About the Author: Scott Burnham, FRSA, has created and directed initiatives in more than a dozen cities worldwide and curated over 30 exhibitions exploring new ideas for design and urban environments.
