The Reputation of Booya Carthy

This is a story of love, in a world of hate.

When the Carthy family are forced to flee from their comfortable lives, leaving everything they know behind, they have no choice but to start again.

Finally settling in Honahee, a troubled Mississippi town, Calvin “Booya” Carthy immerses himself in the local music scene, from where his growing fame soon spreads beyond the county borders. But violence is rife, and musicians are being targeted.

As an even greater threat descends upon Honahee, and danger follows Calvin ever closer to those he loves most, he must decide how much he is prepared to sacrifice for his reputation. But first he has to survive . . .

From one of the most turbulent periods in American history, The Reputation of Booya Carthy is a truly unforgettable story, where cruelty and horror live alongside compassion and hope.
