Resale of digital goods and copyright issues. Stance of the United States and the European Union

Master's Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Law - Media, Multimedia Law, Copyright, grade: B, University of Oslo, language: English, abstract: The right of the author of a copyright work to distribute is lost once he places his work on the market. So if i pay for a book, the author of that book has received his remuneration for the work and I am the legal owner of that copy of the copyright work. I can do what I want with that copy of the work including resell the work or donate it. But digital goods pose challenges which are different from physical copies of a work. This thesis thus discusses the problems in implementing the first sale doctrine to digital copyright works.
