About the Author

Halyna Kornuta received a BEd in secondary education (mathematics and chemistry) and MEd in educational administration from the University of Saskatchewan. She studied International Leadership and received her EdD from the University of San Diego. Dr. Kornuta has been a K-12 teacher and an elementary school principal in Canada and Germany. She has taught and presented at national and international conferences on teacher development, portfolios, leadership, and curriculum development. Dr. Kornuta joined National University in 2001 as full time Teacher Education faculty, associate chair, and coordinator of state-wide field experiences in the School of Education, and the Director of Educational Effectiveness and Assessment. Ron Germaine received a BA in geography from the University of British Columbia and MEd in educational administration from the University of Victoria. His doctorate is in Educational Leadership from the University of San Diego. Dr. Germaine has been a middle school and high school teacher and counselor. He is currently Assistant Professor, Foundations Coordinator, and a Faculty Leader in the School of Education at National University in San Diego. He has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of Character Education and Research in Education. He is a member of the board of directors of the International Center for Character Education at the University of San Diego.
