Research Methods for the College Freshman introduces instruction on several of the fundamental necessities for specific research papers, offering not only the basic understanding of how to write a research paper, but introducing elements that are discipline specific. 

Generally speaking, most college freshmen begin their writing experience with little sense of how a research paper is written. Freshmen students coming into the research portion of composition often do not recognize certain elements necessary to create successful research paper. And, with the diversity in student's majors of any given freshmen composition class, there has been a necessity to introduce a generalized format and formula. However, regularly students need the related type of research education for their specific major, with specifications on a type of paper in which they will need to write in their future endeavors based upon their own discipline.
