A collection of humorous "resolutions" containing witty sayings and life advice from R. F. Outcault's character, Buster Brown, a mischievous well-to-do boy who pulls all sorts of pranks and frequently gets into trouble. He is sometimes accompanied by his pet pit bull, Tige. Mary Jane, Buster's girlfriend, makes a few appearances in this book. Buster's advice appears to be aimed toward younger boys and instructs them on how to be good individuals. Please note: one of the resolutions includes one instance of the N-- word. Example of one Buster's resolutions: "Resolved: That music hath charms--the psychological secret of religious fervor is music--there ought to be good money in music (that's American); with money we can be generous and good. The richer we are the more generous we can be and the better we can be: And of course the happier--because to be good and generous is the only way to be happy. It is awful to see people with nothing but money. Buster Brown." Richard F. Outcault (1863-1928) was an American cartoonist and pioneer of the modern comic strip. He is perhaps best-known for his comic strip series, The Yellow Kid and Buster Brown.
