The Rest of the Deer: An Intuitive Study of Intuition

Book by Blanchard, Margaret

When she was a small child dining with her family in a lodge in which a stuffed deer's head looked out from the wall, Blanchard wandered away. When found, she told them she was seeking "the rest of the deer." The intuitive flash that permits us to fill in what's missing is, Blanchard argues, the basis of intuition. It has its home in the arts, in community, and in education. In this wide-ranging study, she examines the uses of intuition and ways to encourage it. The book--which should appeal to those interested in writing, the creative arts, and women's studies--is itself intuitive in organization and development, moving from autobiography to literary readings to children's writing and even to the building of a house.
