Print on Demand. This book examines how the veto power, as applied by successive presidents of the United States, has become an alarming usurpation of power, subverting the most important measures ever devised for the good of the country. The author traces this abuse to the very inception of the federal government and argues that the true theory of its design has been replaced by an unjustifiable reliance on the personal opinions of the president. The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the original intent of the veto, the ways in which it has been perverted, and the consequences of this perversion for the American people. The author concludes with a compelling argument that this dangerous trend has brought the nation to the brink of crisis and outlines a path to restore the Constitution to its proper basis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Political Theory and History
A sharp, timely examination of the power of the presidency and the remedies proposed to restore constitutional balance.
This book presents a debated view of executive authority and its impact on American government.
Two concise sections frame the argument: first, a focused look at how early leaders warned against concentrated power; then, a contemporary defense of restoring the Constitution through principled leadership. The text blends historical extracts with analysis to illuminate the risks of veto power, imperial tendencies, and the role of the judiciary and legislature in checks and balances.- Learn how Patrick Henry’s cautions about the presidency foreshadowed later constitutional tensions.
- See why the veto and executive prerogatives are debated as potential threats to republican government.
- Explore General Taylor’s candidacy as a lens on party, policy, and constitutional reform.
- Understand the author’s call for restoring the original basis of the Constitution and the arguments for restraint in executive power.
