Report published by the Manned Spacecraft Center, NASA, following the second manned suborbital space flight in July, 1961. Contains six articles titled as follows: Spacecraft and Flight Plan of the Mercury-Redstone 4 Flight; Results of the MR-4 Preflight and Postflight Medical Examination Conducted on Astronaut Virgil I. Grissom; Physiological Responses of the Astronaut in the MR-4 Space Flight; Flight Surgeon s Report for Mercury-Redstone Missions 3 and 4; Results of Inflight Pilot Performance Studies for the MR-4 Flight; and Pilot s Flight Report. The pilot, of course, was Virgil I (Gus) Grissom, legendary fighter pilot and test pilot and one of the seven original Mercury Project astronauts. Notably, the astronauts were still deemed pilots at this point, a distinction that would be abrogated by Mission Control later in the program, as discussed by Tom Wolfe in The Right Stuff. 4to, printed wrappers, 58 pages with b/w charts, tables, and photos. Minor bumping and rubbing to extremities, with damp staining concentrating along spine. Content clean and bright. Scarce. Seller Inventory # ABE-1719779597850
