Twenty-one practicing teachers and educational specialists explore the problems with school reform as currently defined, and what supporters of real reform can actually do to achieve it. Thirty-four essays examine critical teaching, anti-bias classroom practices, education policy and politics, standards and testing, and the challenges and possibilities of trying to promote positive change. Academic but accessible to general readers. Annotation (c) Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
