Retiring into a Rainbow

This beautifully illustrated book will take you through an incredible journey into the mind of Norfolk watercolour artist Alan R. Massen as he describes the inspiration, background and emotional meaning behind a large selection of his paintings, created over a period of twenty years. Over two hundred pictures are included, revealing the artist's enriched life journey from a lively teenager in the emerging pop and rock music scene of the 1960s, through a variety of changing jobs, marriage, family and finally retirement, and how these experiences have influenced his focus and creativity. The book is divided into themes such as people, pets, day to day Norfolk living and Greek island holiday scenes, all interwoven with a fascinating and colourful portrayal of animals, flowers, pop art and the sea. These subjects mirror the tangible love of life and the world around him which the artist holds dear. A book of pleasure for lovers and practitioners of art everywhere as well as anyone interested in how the creativity of a visual artist evolves and is captured.
