It Was Not a Return

It Was Not a Return is not a story about going back, but about discovering that nothing truly waits where we left it. Places remain; people change. And sometimes what we call a return is only another way of leaving.

Set in Berlin, the novel follows Nicola and Marta as they learn to inhabit a city, a relationship, and a fragile idea of family. Their days are made of small gestures, ordinary silences, and the quiet courage required to stay when leaving would be easier.

Through a delicate and introspective voice, the book explores memory, distance, love, and the slow transformation of identity. It speaks of the geography of feelings, of how time reshapes names and faces, and of the stubborn hope hidden in everyday life.

A literary novel about presence rather than answers, about the invisible turning points that change us without noise.
