From the library of Arctic Explorer Ernest Shackleton with his printed name bookplate to the endpaper.Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton 1874 ? 1922 was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic. He was one of the principal figures of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. 1st printing in the new edition by Osgood of the Works of Thomas Hardy and complete in it's own right. Etching by H Macbeth-Raeburn, with tissue guard to title page and a map of Wessex. With a new preface written by the author for this edition. Book is very good and bright. Edges lightly rubbed. Contents good. Light foxing. Ref 17352/19302.
