Returning from the Underground brings together the virtues of testimony and at the same time it enters into a very conflictive field, the field of family love, father-son relationships, and more importantly relationships of absence. Add to that one of the most aggravating elements, the political multiplier: the history of the guerilla, the dirty war, the disappearances. It’s prickly material and I think it’s a very difficult book, yet it’s well resolved. Very difficult, well resolved, because you absorb the interference with the purely personal.
