When the Chandos barony became vacant in the late 18th century, Samuel Egerton Brydges took legal action to adopt the position. Though unsuccessful Brydges would designate himself Baron Chandos. This particular volume explores the legal case and styling of Egerton Brydges, his claims and the evidence presented against him. This particular case is an interesting moment in the history of British peerage. Written by George Frederick Beltz the British genealogist. Previous owners ink inscription to the reverse of the front endpaper that reads 'H. E. B. Harrison, Xmas 1895'. Paperback. Externally a trifle rubbed. Heavy rubbing to the spine, and bumping to the extremities. This bumping has resulted in creases to the extremities of the boards. Chips to the rear board, to towards the fore edge. Internally, binding has failed in several places, with several other gatherings at risk of becoming detached. Pages are clean. Fair. Seller Inventory # 624C3
