This is a problem copy, not just because of the general condition but because it was well used and there are various corrections and additions made as well as a few pages missing,(they are printed one-sided and perforated for removal) But it is unique! 12mo, Offered as a scarce title, despite difficult condition. 12mo, 6 2/3" tall, 489 pages gilt titles on beige cloth. A good, original hardcover with significant shelf wear, fraying started at the top of the back strip cloth, fore-corner tips through to boards, moderate exterior soiling, internal binding shaken but secure, paper light to moderately yellowed with some scattered foxing and marginal finger staining, and a presentation bookplate on the front endpaper. NOTE: The bookplate reads "Tear out perforated blank leaves before you paste in the corrections and additions. No.[128 ]. This book is the property of the New Hampshire board of Underwriters and is loaned to [name uncertain] on condition that the holder will return the same when he ceases to hold a certificate from said Board, or when requested so to do for any cause by said board. Samuel C. Eastman, Secretary".…

Store description
Avenue Victor Hugo Books specialize in first editions of the best in fiction, history, biography, poetry, drama, and essay, as well as the good items which happen to come our way in other subjects. Genre literature such as Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, and Westerns will remain of special interest to us. We also carry many collectible magazines, including TIME, LIFE, National Geographic, and Playbill. Our catalogue features careful, considered assessments of all of our stock. We are not flippers selling books by the pound. Instead, we try to limit our stock to books in a condition we'd be proud to place on our personal bookshelves. Books are something to be cherished, so that's what we do. After years of running our bookstore on Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay, our store has moved. We are now located in Lee, New Hampshire, less than 10 minutes from the University of New Hampshire. Our store is open from 10am to 6pm every Saturday.…
