The Revisionist Volume 1: A Tale of Three Mothers

Unraveling Family Secrets: What Lies Beneath Michael Delitala's The Revisionist?

Gavino is a man at a major crossroads in his life—he’s got a great career, a loving wife, Doyoung, and they’re ready to dive into the whole “starting a family” thing. Except, this big decision has stirred up some serious memories about Gavino’s wild and bumpy upbringing. And honestly? It’s messing with his head a bit.

Raised in a family that would give most soap operas a run for their money, Gavino’s childhood was anything but smooth sailing. His Italian-American dad did his best, but between Gavino’s biological mom (who had her own struggles with mental illness and, unfortunately, some dangerous outbursts) and a tough-as-nails stepmother, Gavino was constantly caught in emotional whirlwinds. His early years were spent dodging trauma, facing tough moments, and navigating the shaky ground between love, guilt, and pain.

After his biological mom's instability led to several harrowing attempts on his life, Gavino’s dad fought for custody and sent him to live with his grandparents. They gave him the closest thing to a stable childhood he’d ever know, but even their love couldn’t erase the deep scars from his past. Now, as Gavino inches closer to fatherhood himself, he can’t help but wonder: is he doomed to repeat his parents’ mistakes?

In this heartfelt, sometimes humorous, and deeply reflective narrative, Gavino sifts through the emotional rubble of his past to figure out how to become the dad he always wished he had. From tense, sarcastic phone calls with his stepmother to moments of real emotional clarity with his father, Gavino’s journey is a full-on introspective rollercoaster. It’s about understanding where you come from and, more importantly, how to break the cycle.

The Revisionist is a candid exploration of family dynamics, trauma, and what it means to rewrite your own story. It’s equal parts emotional and entertaining, proving that while we can’t always change the past, we can always change what we do with it—especially when the next generation is at stake. Whether you’re a fan of deep psychological drama, memoir-style storytelling, or just love a good family saga, this book has something for you. Ready to take a trip down memory lane? Buckle up—Gavino’s story is a bumpy but rewarding ride. 💡
