Revolt in the Desert

This Australasian edition of 'Revolt in the Desert' has a unique dust jacket. Australian publisher George J. Hicks & Co obtained second printing copies from the American publisher, Doran, which were then fitted with a "George J. Hicks & Co." dust jacket. O Brien notes that "at least two copies of this later impression exist which have dust wrapper with George J. Hicks imprint on spine." This is one of those books. The Australasian jacket is printed black on heavy, ribbed, tan paper featuring a front cover profile of Lawrence in Arab in the classic line drawing. The Australian publisher's name appears on both faces and the spine. The rear face features information about the book, a price, and specifies "Australasian Edition". The American trade edition was bound in grey-red buckram with black print and illustrations on both the front cover and spine and a red-brown stained top edge. The contents are bound with illustrated endpapers and 16 illustrations on coated paper. A front endpaper is missing - not sure if that was blank? Opposite this page some press cuttings related to Lawerence have been pasted in. All other pages and illustrations are present and in very good condition, with only minor tanning/foxing. Rear map is present and in fine condition. Decorative endpapers - front and rear - are in fine condition. Front board has a minor crease. DJ has minor edgewear.…
