Item description from seller

27 pages, with a folding plate of a "Hope" gun, Printed for Private Circulation and forms the talk given at the Royal United Services Institution, the piece was perhaps extrapolated from something else as it has slightly later soft paper covers which are a little dusty, contents very good, uncut edges, slim octavo. Scarce Privately Printed. NOTES: William Hope VC, won his medal for conspicuous gallantry in the Crimean War. He invented a form of shrapnel shell for rifled guns, and later became an enthusiastic supporter of the volunteer movement, rising to the command of the 1st City of London Artillery Volunteers. This was published in his retirement years.

Store description

We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.

Specialty

Rare & Secondhand Books. Magazines, Antiquarian Documents, Ephemera, Original Artwork, Prints, Maps, etc.
