Presumed 1st edition. Cloth shows shallow fraying at the spine ends and light toning to the unlettered spine. Light shelf soiling to the boards with a shallow damp line at the lower fore corner of the boards. Light shelf rubbing with minor flaking to the paper along the board edges. Christmas 1887 gift inscription penned to the front flyleaf. Partial split to the front inner hinge; mild soiling to the endpapers with scattered light spotting to the contents. Illustrated with 8 full-page color chromolithograph plates and 24 full-page monotint pictorial illustrations with the verse printed directly within the image. G++.
