Hardcover in patterned paper covered boards over black cloth spine lettered in gilt. 170 pp. plus calendar appendix for charting menstrual cycles; celluloid "Calendar Wheel fir Finding Fertile and Sterile Dates" in printed pocket at rear. Very good. No dust jacket. Though first published in 1935 , revised in 1938, 1943 1ne 1959, a remarkably uncommon guide to the rhythm method of birth control. The author a medical specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, was the editor emetitus of the American Journal of Surgery. The work offers general chapters on marriage and childbearing (including "the moral alternative to contraceptives"), physical matters like the egg and the male cell, menstruation, motherhood, then proceeds to guide the reader through how to apply the "modern method of birth control", charts of normal and irregular menstrual cycles, "the thermometer method", infertitlity and its treatment, etc.
