God never designed us to live stuck or alone, yet so often, that’s exactly how we feel. And being stuck is miserable—for us and for those around us. It drains the joy from our lives and strains our relationships. Over time, it can even make us sick—sick of our jobs, our families, our marriages, and our very lives.
When we’re stuck, we often make desperate choices, ones that only leave us more entrenched in the quicksand. Like flailing in panic, our struggles might seem productive, but they only pull us deeper.

This book is about life—real, messy, beautiful life. It was written while life was happening, not in some polished, distant place but right in the midst of challenges. Much of it was written while fasting, seeking God’s voice with clarity and intention.
As I wrote these truths, I laughed at the moments of joy, winced at the memories of pain, and even cried as I reflected on the lessons life has taught me. Each word has been prayed over, and my deepest hope is that through these pages, you’ll come to know God’s heart for you—right where you are, no matter what you’re facing.
