La Ricerca -Language: italian

Travel diary of a researcher, dedicated and recommended for young scholars who are about to become, like the author, "nomads" of science, "La Ricerca" is also interesting for a wider audience. The story of travels and experiences in cities and universities on four continents is agile and enriched by personal considerations on the news, history and customs of the countries visited. Notes in which, in addition to the curiosity and critical sense typical of the scientist, a dose of humor is sensed that does not hurt. Thus we meet the American scientist similar to Dr. Strangelove who dedicates a lecture to the need for a preventive war against the Soviet Union. The interests cultivated in parallel with the professional activity (Chinese language, recorder) complete the picture of a life as a Renaissance man set in a modern context. The style is dry and flowing, as befits a university professor who is convinced that "a well-written work is easier to read, and is therefore more effective, if written in a simple and elegant way".
