Richer not Poorer: Death was the Start

Richer not Poorer: Death was the Start.

If you enjoyed watching the Grantchester Mysteries, Father Brown, or the brilliant 'Endeavour' series and the Exorcist, you're in for a treat with this first ever Romantic Thriller by acclaimed children's author, David Yearsley.

A fascinating blend of English and Eastern bloc with a mixed tale of intrigue, fantasy, murder, fraud, suicide, romance and the Devil. Set in 1980's Oxfordshire, Reverend Eric Padstock of Barthomley Parish Church is a 58 year old Church of England Vicar and brilliant preacher, polymath and family man. Tragically widowed following the vile rape and tragic death of his late wife Kate, he tracks down the perpetrator. His socialist leanings and professional life spiral out of secular and religious control leading to crisis upon catastrophe involving his children and 'others'.

A trip to an abandoned, mysterious French Monastery during a holiday, draws him to an old Abbey where he has strong spiritual experiences before a finale of exorcisms in Rome. He eventually returns to England and a centuries old secret key, priceless paintings and graveyard apparitions before a haunting meeting with the 'dead' and a new wife!

Have now written and self-published six books, mostly children's stuff (+ two pending).I have a wife and daughter and two young granddaughters. Author influences are numerous but my favourites are Lewis Carroll, Roald Dahl, Edith Nesbit, C.S.Lewis and J.R. Tolkien and the Bible. My first children's fantasy book- a 'book within a book'- was The Mystery of Cloverdaisy Cottage Part 1 debuted November 2017 for kids between 7-10 years and brilliantly illustrated by Jim Crawley. Mysterious, magical, sad and funny it is also educational and full of love. This wonderful dual story links historical myth and legend with the present day and human life with animal life. The follow up 'Cloverdaisy 2' is now out through mainstream publishers and even more spell binding than the first but links both parts. Again superbly illustrated by Jim it reveals the little - until now- unknown connection between the founder of Vale Royal Abbey- Edward 1 'Longshanks' and the Hammer of the Scots with King Arthur and Camelot!Having successfully survived a stroke 4 years ago I am now part-time -carer for me wife Lynne who is Type 1 diabetic with vascular dementia.
