The author of these 227 (travel) pages was born in Ontario and feels like a Manitoban, but the story line - as the page vi map shows - is from Brooklyn to San Francisco. The year is 1915. The bike is a Harley Davidson, which he nicknamed Betsy. Read more about : vesper sparrows, shrubbery, weatherman, Pratt Institute, Frat, tail-pipe, Barking Betsy, smudge fire, Ebor Saskatchewan, Pennsy clay, and pannier strap. The author had a passion for birds. B/W photographs amplify text. Cond ; Paper wrapper is whlite with brown lettring and graphics. Cover image shows a roadside meal. Volume is beautifully clean and crisp and square. Only flaw is a v.small name of p/o on half-title. Almost giftable ! ! QUote (p. 106) : " It was all uphill going now, and stiff climbing at that. There were no breathing-places or `Thank-you, ma'ams' here. They had told us that the last mile toward the pass was the steepest, and we began to ._._._. . " Size: 8vo.
