Softcover. Generally fine with faint evidence of use to the outer tips of the cover. 464 pp with index and black and white photographs. Facsimile reissue of the original 1908 edition with a new introduction for this edition by Gregory J.W. Urwin. A rousing and vivid illustration of the tactical worth of the Michigan Cavalry Brigade. Told by Captain James H. Kidd, who raised his own company, engaged in more than sixty battles, rose to colonel in 1864, and after conspicuous valor in the Valley Campaign of that year succeeded Custer as commander of the Michigan Brigade. He wrote these memoirs several decades after the war, his recollections were sharp and indelible.
