About the Author

Iris Waichler, MSW, LCSW, has a Master Degree in Social Work and has been practicing for over 25 years. She is the author of Patient Power: How to Have a Say During Your Hospital Stay (1986, Betterway). She worked as a Medical Social Worker in large teaching hospitals in the Chicago area for 13 years. She was Director of Medical Social Work at Glenbrook Hospital for three years.

Waichler has a wealth of experience working with infertility, rehabilitation, cancer, and emergency room patients. She has done work leading a Pregnant at Last (PAL) group, doing peer counseling, and volunteering on the hotline for RESOLVE. She has authored many articles for RESOLVE.

Iris Waichler lives in Chicago with her husband, Steve, and her daughter.
