Susan Yost-Filgate grew up in Pennsylvania and received a bachelor's degree in art education from the Pennsylvania State University. Before co-creating the Rip Squeak series with her husband, illustrator, Leonard Filgate, Susan was involved in graphic design, brand licensing, law, education, and writing. This is her first published book.

Illustrator, Leonard Filgate is a self-trained artist. He grew up in San Francisco, California and has been working as a fine artist and illustrator since 1970. In 1997 he began to create the world of RIP SQUEAK� and his art is now known and collected around the world. He has been honored with many accolades, including a one-man major exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum.

The Filgates currently reside in California's Central Valley.
