Ritual of Subordinate Lodge of the Independent Order of Good Samaritans and Daughters of Samaria in America (Classic Reprint)

Inside a Good Samaritan Lodge initiation

This book reveals the rituals, questions, and vows used to welcome new members and teach temperance values. It outlines the step‑by‑step ceremony, from initial questioning to the pledge, symbolic lessons, and closing prayers, all framed as a path of personal improvement.

The text follows a formal sequence: screening of candidates, a quiet entrance and welcome, a series of teachings about purity, charity, and self‑restraint, and a public pledge to uphold secrecy and temperance. It presents role‑play scenes, prayers, and symbolic objects used to illustrate the lodge’s principles. The narrative focuses on mood, ceremony, and the moral aims of the order.

• How candidates are asked about age, occupation, and readiness to follow the Order’s rules.
• Rituals that emphasize abstinence, charity, and helping others.
• Symbolic objects and signs used to teach loyalty, reflection, and self‑improvement.

Ideal for readers of historical fraternal rituals and temperance movements who want a close look at ceremonial language and stagecraft in this edition.
