Synopsis
Elaine Bagworth tells the harrowing ordeal an elderly couple face when their pet dog is snatched. Bagworth, who survived three marriages, knows what it is to lose a loved one after years of companionship. "Mollie" is based on a true life event. In "The Landork Prophecies", Sharon Stein tackles global warming in a polarised political world. It's a story of military espionage with two kinds of survivors; those who can see, and those who choose not to. "The Gift" by Josef Bloglowski is a horror tale seen through the eyes of a girl traumatised by abuse. An ex-boxer unleashes his frustration on his family. According to Bloglowski, child abuse follows the same ugly pattern; only after the damage is complete is a remedy prescribed. An introductory sequel to "Masters of the Confluence", by Nduka Onwuegbute, "Surviving the Confluence" takes us on a mystical journey moments after a slave raid in 19th century Africa.
About the Author
E. M. Bagworth An only child, Elaine Marie Bagworth was born in England. At the age of thirteen she gave up school and was living off the streets. Her love of writing was triggered when she experienced difficulty reading a newspaper story and had to attend evening classes to develop her skills. Her first marriage put a strain on her studies, and she had to give it up. Unfortunately, her husband died leaving her with two children. She married again and divorced; twice. Bagworth finally finished her reading & writing course and celebrated by writing her first story, "Mollie". Elaine lives in Wales with her family. J. Bloglowski Josef Bloglowski was born in military camp. When his father was posted to war zones, his mother tagged along. Leaving home still a minor, Bloglowski spent a lot of his living off the charity of friends. Though settled, he still treats his Buckingham, home like a hotel. "The Visit" is Bloglowski's first story. S. Stein Sharon Stein calls herself a renegade Jew. Having lived in Carson City all her life, she has never ventured out of her home state of Nevada. She also confesses to never having visited Las Vegas. At only 18, Stein is our youngest writer in this collection and one of America's most promising story tellers. Asked when, and if she would ever visit Las Vegas, Sharon reckons she's "...a bit too young." "The Landork Prophecies" is Stein's first story. N. O. Onwuegbute Born in England, Nduka Onwuegbute grew up in Nigeria where he spent over twenty years. It is also the backdrop to "Surviving the Confluence." the only puiblished author of this collection, he also wrote for the stage and television. Currently, Onwuegbute lives in the England with his wife and children.
