The Road That Remained (New Beginnings: An Arthur Read Pastiche Series (Unofficial & Transformative Fan Fiction Inspired by Marc Brown’s "Arthur"))

What if the vehicles and stories we consign to museums were actually thresholds to a living, unbroken past?

In the spring of 2026, David Read uncovers a yellowing factory order sheet for a custom 2007 Travel Supreme Mid-Engine motorhome. It represents a rare moment in manufacturing history—a production line that bent to one family's exact specifications. Deciding its next job is to teach future generations, David and Jane donate their beloved coach to the RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum in Elkhart, Indiana.

But when the family takes a final walk through the museum gallery, reality shifts. The polished exhibition floor falls away, replaced by an impossible highway stretching out into a parallel world where the past never closed for business.

The Road That Remained is a fascinating, transformative literary pastiche that spans across connected dimensions. It seamlessly blends a meticulously detailed deep-dive into RV manufacturing, classic conversion van culture, and alternate broadcasting histories with an evocative family mystery. From the sprawling, radio-antenna-lined estate of Gallagher Road in Oakland Township to the technical garages of Erie, Pennsylvania, this Expanded Reference Edition explores a world where progress doesn't require erasure, and where the order book never has a final page.
