Juanita is beautiful and brilliant. She carries the hopes of her family, her neighbors in the village and the local priest as she takes up scholarship studies at the University of Guanajuato. There she is charmed by the sophisticated Geraldo who invites her to meet his family in Tenancingo, where to her horror, she is enslaved and sold into prostitution.

Government Agencies, NGO’s, the Church, her family, and even former victims on both sides of the border between the USA and Mexico are involved in the search for Juanita. Selfless, dedicated and passionate in their purpose, they are beacons along Juanita’s dangerous and painful path. Is there hope for victims like Juanita even if rescued?

R. Bruce Logan has retired from two satisfying careers - US Army officer and management consultant. He has devoted his retirement years to humanitarian work and philanthropy, largely in Southeast Asia. In 2012, he and his wife Elaine wrote the memoir, Back to Vietnam: Tours of the Heart. He has subsequently written three novels dealing with the abhorrent practice of child trafficking; Finding Lien, As the Lotus Blooms, and the one you are reading. When not traveling, Bruce and Elaine live on Salt Spring Island, in British Columbia.
