Roadmap to Analyzing a Text: Poems, Drama, Films, Novels, Music and Dance

Roadmap to Analyzing a Text is an essential book for teachers and students of literature. This important book provides a needed roadmap for supporting students of literature as they navigate the rugged terrain of texts analysis that they face each day.

Dr. Padmore Agbemabiese is a Professor of English and Literature at Tri-C, Metro Campus. He is a respected authority on literary analysis and a recipient of the Howard Seerly Scholar Award for his outstanding contributions to scholarship. He is a poet, a playwright and an essayist. This book provides in-depth information to guide teachers and students who want to make positive difference in analysis and interpretation of texts. One thing is clear, Professor Agbemabiese wants us to stop thinking about simply enjoying the surface meaning of a text, and start concentrating on the creative problem-solving of the text, and enjoy the discovery of the figurative meaning for which the text was created. Largely, Professor Agbemabiese in this book cuts through the noise and brambles, thorns and dins hindering the understanding of a text to demonstrate how we can move from the myopic focus on texts to the holistic high-stakes in the meaning and the goal of a text.
