Robbery Under Law: The Mexican Object-Lesson

1940. Catholic Book Club edition - the first edition by Chapman & Hall was in 1939. viii, 286pp. Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) is probably best known as a novelisy, but he also wrote biographies and travel books. Robbery Under Law is a polemic travel book that depicts the Leftist nationalization of the petroleum industry, and the persecution of Catholics in Mexico, under Lázaro Cárdenas, in 1938. The book is bound in the original blue-grey canvas cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling to the boards. The top of the spine is bumped and the spine is noticeably browned with some water splashing and staining. The contents are tight and clean no inscription.
