Volume 2 in this series provides a fascinating history of the Rock Island's Western Division which stretched form Council Bluffs, Iowa to Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado and eventually east to Des Moines, Iowa. Although packed with photographs, the book is not a pictorial but a solid history of the Division, the numerous subdivisions, the yards and stations, and all passenger train operations (including the Rocky Mountain Limited and Rocket as well as the Mountaineer and Colorado Fast Mail). There is also information on the passenger trains of the Chicago, Kansas & Nebraska, a predecessor to the Rock Island. Illustrated throughout with hundreds of black and white photos by leading rail photographers plus an 11 page color section plus several maps and gradient profiles. End papers show detailed map of the Rock Island. 280 pages.

99% of my listings are NEW BOOKS still in the printers shrink wrap. Defective DVDs will be replaced by the same title if available. Since most of my books are in NEW CONDITION opened and thumbed through titles become used and up to a 20 percent re-stocking/used charge will apply. Return shipping costs will be the customer's responsibility.

Shipping Terms

Books, DVDs and CDs will ship Media Mail in the United States unless the customer chooses Priority Mail. International orders will ship USPS First Class Mail International (4 lbs. or less) or USPS Priority Mail International (greater than 4 lbs.) or via DHL and their agents (when cost is less than the postal carriers). International shipping costs are based on books weighing 1 pound as ABE bases shipping on the number of items not the weight of the book. The carriers charge by weight. If your book order is heavy or over sized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.

Most orders ship in 1-2 business days. Shipping times cannot be guaranteed especially with the pandemic.
