Sm. 4to. 25 x 20 cm, unpaginated, hand-written, photostated copy, floral decorated endpapers, full leather, gilt spine title ("Roebuch Diary"), rare. (cdn) British politician, John Arthur Roebuch (1802-1879) was raised in Upper Canada (Augusta) and returned to England in 1824 and served as the agent in England for the Assembly in Upper Canada and a vocal supporter of responsible government in the Canadas. The journal, primarily written by his wife, covers a later period in his life-from 1842 to 1887. A radical politician he railed against any serving prime minister and the journal outlines his disputes regarding the Irish Question, sinecures, the Crimean War, the Reform Bill. The journal includes several family histories - the Roebucks and Falconers. Seller Inventory # 39688
