PREFACE Africa’s borders are among the continent’s most strategic assets. They define our nations, shape our economies, and influence the security and well-being of millions of people. Yet, despite their importance, borders in Africa have historically faced challenges-from disputes and conflicts to limited institutional capacity and inconsistent governance. It is within this complex landscape that the African Union Border Programme (AUBP) plays a vital role, offering a framework for coordinated border management, security, and regional integration.
