Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Antique photographs (illustrator). "Ricordo di Roma, Parte Seconda" is an accordion-style fold-out album of 30 photographic scenes of Rome, Italy that was issued circa 1900. The monochrome photographs were printed on glossy paper, with captions in red. The views cover a great variety of scenes, including vast piazzas, timeless art (such as sculptures : La Pietá, and Moses by Michelangelo), magnificent architecture, famous ruins, including the Colosseum , which is also presented in fanciful recreations of its gladiatorial activities in Roman times. There are a couple of lonely trolley cars, but no automotive traffic - just pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages and carts - and Electric Trolley Cars. Its a lovely keepsake from the Eternal City . Rome as it will never appear again! Each photograph measures 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" ( borders included). The binding is pressed and molded cloth (embossed), with a photograph affixed within a panel on the front cover. Decorations to the front are colored in gilt. Secondary decorative touches and the title are stamped in white. Size of the binding is 6 3/4" x 8 1/2". Aside from the caption to each picture, there is explanatory text on the reverse of each picture in Italian, English, French, and German. CONDITION - GOOD ONLY - This is a previously owned item, that remains clean and attractive, with the following noted : EXTERIOR - The spine is chipped and nicked, with small loss to the extremities. The boards are rubbed about the edges, with chipping and small loss to the corner tips. There is considerable scuffing to the rear cover. The front cover displays nicely. BINDING - Still solid. INTERIOR - Clean and unmarked. There are, on a few of the pictures, a bit of light scratching - but nothing of any extensive or egregious nature - one photograph has a minute tape repair in the fore-edge corner tip - this does not impinge on the image. All in all the photographs display brightly, and it is a pleasure to view them. Seller Inventory # 1193
