Con il titolo ispirato da un insieme di brani per pianoforte di Felix Mendelssohn, l opera venne stampata in seicento esemplari non dichiarati dalla parigina Léon Vanier divenendo di fatto la versione di riferimento. Contiene «Ariettes oubliées», «Paysages belges», «Birds in the night» e «Aquarelles», che ispirarono le sei melodie per pianoforte e voce composte da Claude Debussy tra il 1885 e il 1887. in 16°, legatura in pelle marrone con titoli oro al dorso, ritratto dell autore all antiporta (litografia di André Des Gachons), pp. 63 [5], sguardie decorate.
