Romans: Justification by Faith (Romans 1-4) (Expositional Commentary)

The Boice Commentary series combines careful scholarship and clear communication in a verse-by-verse and section by section reading of various biblical texts. Combining thoughtful interpretation with contemporary insight for daily living, James Montgomery Boice explains the meaning of the text and relates the text's concerns to the church, Christianity, and the world in which we live. Whether used for devotions, preaching, or teaching, this authoritative and thought-provoking series will appeal to a wide range of readers, from serious Bible students to interested laypersons.

"Christianity has been the most powerful, transforming force in human history," says Boice. "And the book of Romans is the most basic, most comprehensive statement of true Christianity." This first volume in the Romans collection sorts out the full impact of justification by faith only. It traces Paul's reasoning from his opening declaration to the confession of Christ's resurrection.

James Montgomery Boice (1938-2000) was senior pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was also president and cofounder of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the parent organization of The Bible Study Hour, on which Boice was a speaker for more than thirty years.
