A runaway best seller in 1910, forgotten by 1930, Florence L. Barclay's novel THE ROSARY was re-discovered by movie star Nelson Eddy in 1948 as a possible film vehicle for himself and screen singing partner, Jeanette MacDonald. A new introduction by MacDonald-Eddy authority Sharon Rich provides a biographical chapter about Florence L. Barclay and explains the MacDonald/Eddy attempt to make a film version in 1948. Included are their letters dated from 1948, discussing the ironic similarities of their lives at that time to the main characters of the book. "The story is so like the course of our own lives it was amazing." wrote Jeanette MacDonald to Nelson Eddy in a 1948 letter. "It is such a beautiful story." Along with the new biography, the original sheet music, poem, background information and comments from MacDonald and Eddy are rare photos of both Barclay and her family, and the beloved film stars.

Sharon Rich has written six books and edited and written over sixty magazines about 1930s singing stars Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. She was close friends for many years with Jeanette's older sister Blossom Rock. Along with interviewing hundreds of people, she had access to many collections of private letters, Nelson’s personal scrapbooks, diary entries, FBI files and Jeanette’s unpublished autobiography. She is considered by many to be the leading authority on MacDonald and Eddy in the world. In 1994 she was a guest speaker at the American Film Institute (East Coast) and the "Sweethearts" launch party was hosted by the AFI. In 1995 she was awarded a Dame of Merit by the Knights of Malta for her contribution to History and Literature. For more information check out www.maceddy.com. Rich lives in New York City.
