The third book in a hilarious chapter book series about an accidental rule breaker from Katherine Applegate, Newbery Medal–winning and bestselling author of The One and Only Ivan, Endling, and Wishtree.

It seems like everyone has an award of some kind. Except Roscoe. But a pet-trick contest is coming up, and first prize is a big, shiny trophy. Roscoe really wants that trophy—would he even borrow someone else’s dog to win?

Roscoe and his comical misadventures will appeal to fans of Megan McDonald’s Stink series; Nancy Krulik’s George Brown, Class Clown series; Rebecca Elliott’s Owl Diaries series; and Dan Gutman’s My Weirder School series.

• Hilarious Chapter Book: Perfect for newly independent readers, this story follows the comical, well-meaning messes of Roscoe Riley, an accidental rule breaker who always learns his lesson in the end.
• Relatable School Stories: From show-and-tell envy to chocolate milk volcanos, Roscoe’s adventures at school and home will have kids laughing with recognition.
• Heartwarming Pet Stories: Roscoe thinks he needs a “genius” dog to win the pet-trick contest, but he soon discovers his own lovable but clumsy dog, Goofy, is the real prize.
• Important Life Lessons: A funny take on honesty, jealousy, and why a lumpy sweater from Grandma might be worth more than any shiny trophy.
