xliv (44) + 528 pages + 8 pages publisher's adverts to rear. Thick pocketbook henges vertically. Board were purple, bronzed to mid brown, heavy rubbing with some holes to front hinge which wobbles, 7-8mm losses to spine-ends, reading crease to spine, crease across front board where gilt titles have dulled. Wear with small frays to corens, some wear to edges. Ink notes of the period/sketches to end-papers, page-edges darkened. Text is a little yellowed with one or two slight marks but is clean overall and sound. An interesting volume of its type.
