Routledge's Coloured ABC Book

Published by George Routledge. Undated but known to be published in the mid nineteenth century. Four previously published books housed in one cover. The first is an alphabet of fairy tales; the second an alphabet of food, animals and trades that one might associate with a farm; the third an alphabet of flowers and the fourth, entitled Tom Thumb's Alphabet, is an alphabet of trades and professions. Three out of four of the alphabets are marked as having been printed by the Leighton Brothers. Hardcover. Size: 27 x 23.5 cms or 10 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches. Page number: 44 with both script and images being printed on one side of the paper only and additional blank pages being included which protect the opposite page from transfer of ink. Condition: Very Good. The cover, corners and spine are generally worn. There is some loss to the gilding; this most noticeable on the right hand side of the front cover. The binding remains secure. There is a bookseller's sticker inside the front cover; the book was first sold at John Dale of Bradford. The pages within are generally lightly foxed; but this does not spoil the images themselves.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.If a book is small packaging and postage is charged at the lower rate of one pound and fifty pence, the amount being reduced when the order is processed.
It is recommended that more valuable books be insured, particularly if they are being sent overseas. I will contact the buyer with a cost prior to do so. In the UK packages sent by Royal Mail special delivery can be tracked and are insured; otherwise, though every effort is made on my part to locate an item lost in the post, I cannot accept responsibility for the loss.
